This copy of Software Manager is version 3.00. Software Manager, version 4.00, scheduled for general release in 1994 will include the following features: Software menu: Uninstall command (enhancement) ---------------------------------------------- This enhanced feature will allow you to choose to either: (1) perform all software removal tasks manually with a generated step-by-step procedure or (2) let the Software Manager perform each software removal task with your confirmation. Software menu: Move command (new) --------------------------------- If you move an application to a new subdirectory, chances are high that the application will no longer run properly. Why is this true? Windows and DOS store information about application directory locations in configuration files. Moving software to a new directory without updating configuration files means the operating system will no longer know where to find application components. The Move Wizard will allow you to move a software application to a new directory and will automatically update all Windows and DOS configuration files. Software menu: Verify command (new) ----------------------------------- This new feature is very useful when an existing application no longer works. For example you may have deleted outdated document files and accidentally deleted a software application file. The Verify Wizard will determine if the application is still properly installed and provide step-by-step instructions to repair any problems detected. Software menu: Report command (new) ----------------------------------- This new function will allow you to re-create a Software Installation report. Software Manager, version 4.00, will also include an updated Commercial Software Summary (COMSOFT.TXT).
